About Poker

We offer the latest in the most exciting form of online gaming: Multi-Player Poker. At our game tables, you don't play against the House or against a professional Dealer. Instead, you play against other players - people just like you who come from all over the world to pit their luck and poker skills against each other.

Having other people at the table allows you to use a tool that doesn't work against a Video Poker machine: bluffing. You might bet big to scare opponents into throwing away a better hand when you have a poor hand, or you might bet low to keep opponents in play and adding to the pot when you have a great hand. Either way, bluffing adds a whole new element of excitement you can't get any other way.

Basic Rules for Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is far and away the most popular version of poker. The game concept itself is pretty simple. Each player is dealt two cards face down (called pocket cards). The dealer then deals five community cards face up; these are available to all the players to help make their hand. Players may use any combination of their pocket cards and the community cards to make their hand. The best 5-card hand takes the pot. Of course, the game is a little more complicated than that, and as usual, the complications revolve around money.

Choosing a Table

After using the Training Room to get acquainted with game controls and flow of play, your next step is to choose a table. When you locate the table you want, either double-click the row in the List of Tables, or click the Go to Selected Table button at the bottom of the list or at the bottom of the Table Details area. All three of these methods will open your selected table in a game window.

Take a Seat

You can click on any open seat to sit down and start playing after the current hand has completed or the blinds come around to your seat.

Playing A Hand

1. Pre-Flop

Now the game starts to heat up! Each player receives two cards that only they can see, called 'hole' cards. After this, the first round of betting is started by the first player to the left of the big blind. This player, who is known as 'on the gun', can: Call - match the amount bet in the big blind, Raise - increase the amount bet, or Fold - surrender his cards and stake in the game.

2. The Flop

The first set of three Community Cards is called the Flop, and it starts the 2nd round of betting. Here, the Flop is a Two of Clubs, a Six of Hearts and a Seven of Spades.

3. The Turn

A fourth community card is dealt face up on the table. The third round of betting follows.

4. The River

The fifth and final community card is dealt, followed by the final round of betting.

5. The Showdown

All the bets have been called, it's time to show the cards. The best five-card hand takes the pot. For a complete list of hand rankings, please consult the Hand Rankings page.
